William White
International Advisory Board Member
William White is a native Houstonian who grew up on the Westside of Houston. An experienced professional with a background in Government Affairs and political campaigning, he currently serves as Director of The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) – Houston Chapter.
CAIR is a nonprofit, grassroots civil rights, and advocacy organization. CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties organization, with national headquarters on Capitol Hill Washington, D.C., and affiliate offices nationwide. Since its establishment in 1994, CAIR has worked to promote a positive image of Islam and Muslims in America. Through media relations, lobbying, education, and advocacy, CAIR seeks to empower American Muslims and encourage their participation in political, and social activism, making sure their voice is represented.
Prior to serving as the Director of CAIR – Houston, William was CAIR’s Director of Operations. Earlier, he was Government Affairs and Outreach Manager for CAIR Austin chapter, where he led advocacy drives, voting registration campaigns, and countless engagements with Government offices and agencies.
Before joining CAIR, William was a contractor on-site at Google in North Austin where he analyzed legal cases and played a pivotal role in growing the organization’s management process and strategies.
William converted to Islam at 20 while studying at Houston Community College. He graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is currently pursuing graduate studies in policy, law, and nonprofit management.
In his free time, William enjoys watching his favorite football (soccer) team, Arsenal, or practicing martial arts, for which he holds a black belt in Karate and Japanese Jujitsu.
As Head of Islamic Relations, William will provide strategic leadership and foster a unique relationship with the Islamic world.
